FAQ - Questions fréquemment posées

What size do you need?

Shields

The small size is suitable for patients of over 5. The large size is used if the patient doesn't experience any discomfort in the dental arches.

Mouthguards

The size is selected according to age and above all according to width of the arches.
No specific measurements need to be taken.

The CFP mouthguard is one-size only (from age 6).
Class II is available in 3 sizes: small (from age 6), medium (from age 8) and large (adult).
Class III is available in 2 sizes: small (from age 4) and medium (from age 8).
The bracket mouthguard is one-size only (from age 6).
The square mouthguard is available in 10 sizes: it is measured by calculating the sum of the mesiodistal diameters of the 4 upper incisors. A conversion table allows you to choose the right mouthguard (see product sheet).

It can be cut with scissors in the molar area if required.

Proccluseurs

There are 8 sizes. Use a ruler to help you select one. In the jaw measure the distal faces between 12 and 22, in the lower 1/3 of the vestibular faces. If the measurement falls between two sizes, select the largest.

How long does a mouthguard last?

A mouthguard lasts between 3 and 12 months. There are 3 levels of hardness: soft, medium and rigid. If your patient wears out his mouthguard quickly (in 1 or 2 months), it is a good idea to change to a higher density.

How do you clean the appliance?

The apparatus must be cleaned each time you wear it, using cold or warm water and a small amount of toothpaste. Once a week you are advised to soak it for an hour in diluted mouthwash. Dry it carefully and put it away in its box.

What advice should you give the patient to make sure that he can sleep when wearing his appliance?

You must wear it during the day, in order to get used to it: 2 hours per day, split into ¼ hour sessions. After 8 to 10 days your child should try to sleep while wearing the appliance.

Sometimes it's a good idea to wear the shield before trying the mouthguard. This allows the patient to get used to it gradually and at the same time tests his motivation.

What is the appliance made of?

Medical grade material and a food grade colorant, with no phtalate or bisphenol.

Where are the appliances made?

The appliances are manufactured and packaged in France.
